Underwater Photography
My first encounter with underwater photography started in 2000 when I rented an underwater camera in Sipadan (Sealife underwater 35mm film based camera). Prior to that, frankly I did not even shoot photos on land. However, there was no other way to correctly express the beauty of the underwater world to non-diver. After that trip, I immediately purchased my first underwater camera which I could afford ... the Ikelite Auto-35 + sub-strobe.
So begins the journey of learning by trial and errors of wasted rolls of film, lot of backscatters and lots of disappointment when the negatives are developed :>
Through the years, with better diving bouyancy, better understanding of camera techniques and limitations, better understanding of composition techniques, better patience and understanding of the underwater creatures and their environment ... here is a simple consolidation of my underwater photos (yes, I will spare you the thousands of out-of-focused backscattered shots !)
Hopefully it does what it all started out as ... to convey the beauty of the underwater world and its inhabitants.
