Puerto Princesa Underground River Tour

1 Jan 1904 – 14 May 2016
Since we are in the area, might as well visit the underground river which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and voted as a New 7Wonders of Nature in 2012

14 May 2016 - Puerto Princesa Underground River Tour

The hotel was great and arranged for us to be on the first tour leaving the hotel at 6am as we needed to be back by 4pm so that we can get onto the boat to Tubbataha.

Arriving in Sabang, home of the Puerto Princesa underground river UNESCO site ...

After picking up a few other guest and a 1.5 hours drive, we arrived at Underground River Tourist Office in Sabang where the tour guide went to gets our permits processed.

Well, it was a "complicated" process of getting permits, to be allocated a boat from Sabang to the site. Then getting another number there to be allocated another boat into the underground river itself ...etc. Anyway, just follow the guide. We did not had to wait too long for the various boats even though it was the peak period where apparently 900-1000 people visit the site daily. As usual, good to be early and be there before the crowd builds up.

Underground River ...

Rather difficult to get any decent photo as the caves were pitch black but here's a flavour of it

The tour included a buffet lunch in Sabang

One of my favourite food in philippines ... lato seaweed in vinegar with a simple fried fish
