Orne Harbour

Sailing past the Gerlache straits, our next landing was to seek out the Chinstrap penguins nesting in the rocky hills 100+m above sea-levels.
Fur seals were standing guard at our landing point.
It was another icy and slippery climb up the hill. As we huff and puff and tring not to slip, can't help but wonder how long do the penguins need to climb up here ? Is it really necessary to nest that higher up ? How many trips do they need to make each day ?
