Dec 2013 - Otaru
The waku waku bus dropped us off at the Sapporo Bus Terminal. We took the JR from Sapporo to Otaru.
Dormy Inn hotel was literally right outside of the JR station. Left the luggage with the hotel and went off for lunch as it was too early to check-in.
Lunch at 湯波半 Yabahan.
This place was still as good as when we visited them 5-6 year ago. The building and interiors look exactly the same ... only difference was that they now have an English menu. Food is as expected ... Excellent.

Yukimi Tofu and Tora Tofu

Kaki (Oyster) Soba and Sock's 3 variety soba set

It was slush and ice everywhere. The rain did not help, making it wet and difficult to walk around.
Lots of shops were closed as we walked around the main Otaru canal area.
Ice cream and cream puff at Rokkatei 六花亭

After visiting the various glass factories and outlets, the observation tower in Le Tao, it was time to look for dinner.
The plan was to have tempura at 石水 (出拔小路), however they were not open for business. They are my favourite tempura stall !!
We ended up in a small sushi shop around the corner of 石水, run by an owner full of character and having a great chirashi don meal.

Seafood in shallow claypot ... apparently cooked uni taste just as sweet and nice
