Dec 2013 - Arriving in Sapporo
After navigating the icy slush roads, we found the hotel, check-in and took a shower.
It was near dinner time and I found this izakaya with great reviews on the internet, and it happens to be in the same block as our hotel.

The Den den ga den yakitori was so good that I ordered a second serving. Other good stuff here includes ... 月見つくね (kimi tsukune - meatbar with raw egg), pork wrapped mochi, yaki origini with cheese ...

Dec 2013 - Sapporo Beer Museum and around Visit to the Sapporo Beer Museum on a snowy day ...        I like the section on the beer posters from vintage to current !   Finally, tasting time. ¥500 for a 3 glass sampling. Everything including the ice cubes are in the Sapporo Star shape ...        Lunch @ Kadoya, an eel specialist restaurant in the susukino area. Nice crunchy eel bones, eel liver soup, charcoal grilled eel in bento boxes. Still as good as I remembered it.     Window shopping along 狸小路. Ended up grocery shopping ... purple-skin daikon (tasted sweet with a spicy bite). Could not find Aoimori garlics so settled for these.   Was sad that the Panju stall in Otaru was closed apparently as the old man was not in good health. This is another Panju stall in 狸小路. The custard version tasted great. Was getting too cold outdoor so we went to Tokyu Hands for indoor shopping.  Wanted to try voyage curry, but was too tired from the entire day of walking and the weather. Dinner at Lavi Curry @ 10th Floor of ESTA at the JR Sapporo Station. On a scale of 1 to 50, I went for level 30 spiciness and Roland went for Level 40. Phew ... finally the Japanese can make something that meant spicy and has a good enough kick. Sapporo soup curry lives up to its name again :>  Macha Ice Cream with Warabi from Nana's Green Tea to cool it off. Strangely the cones are only for take away and we could not order them for eat-in in the cafe.   Back to the hotel to pack up for a 10am check-out the next day.
